28. bis 30. Okt 2019: Cultural appropriation of spaces and things

All over the world, children are confronted with an increasingly confusing and fast-moving world. Children need elementary cultural techniques and skills to shape their own lives and orient them towards individually selectable interpretations of meaning. In addition to the acquisition of classical cultural techniques such as arithmetic, writing and reading, the competent handling of spaces and things forms the basis and prerequisite for the development of competences or abilities that are suitable for understanding the dimensions and the complexity and changeability of their world and for being able to critically deal with associated problems and approaches to solutions.

Within the framework of the international and interdisciplinary symposium, children`s processes of appropriation and construction will be presented and discussed from intercultural and interdisciplinary perspectives. The aim of the conference is to find as appropriate as possible ways for children all over the world for a methodically and didactically guided examination of their natural, social and technical environment.

At the same time, the aim is to achieve a mutual relativization of monodisciplinary research methods as well as singular research results in an international comparison and a self-critical reflection of one’s own culturally shaped approaches within the frame of reference of the specific knowledge cultures.
